The guy charged with lying to the FBI about President Biden just got arrested AGAIN

House Republicans spent a long time insisting that President Joe Biden was corrupt, based almost entirely on claims made by FBI informant Alexander Smirnov. But the Feds recently charged and arrested Smirnov with having made up the whole thing. Making up fake political scandals isn’t a crime, but lying to the Feds is.

For some reason the magistrate judge decided to let Smirnov out on bail, in spite of him seemingly being a flight risk to Russia. But now the Feds have arrested him again, while he was meeting with his attorneys.

No details are available as to why he’s been arrested again. But the arrest would typically require some kind of new charges, or some kind of evidence that he was violating his bail or attempting to flee.

Any such evidence will need to be put in front of the magistrate judge in order to decide whether Smirnov will stay behind bars this time, so we’ll find out what’s going on soon enough. But this just keeps getting uglier for the House Republicans who based so much of their failed Biden impeachment effort around this guy as their star witness.
