This is way too close for comfort
I don’t know about you, but nighttime is often my most focused time, the time when my thoughts are the most sharp. I am not the only one who feels this way. That is because there is something about the night’s peacefulness — the soundlessness — that allows for people to let their thoughts run like river rapids, allowing the activism that is always sitting just beneath the surface to break free in waves to the forefront.
Right now, my activism is focused on getting Tom Suozzi elected in the New York special election for the seat left behind by George Santos. So far, things are going well. A new Newsday/Siena College poll shows our guy with a 4% lead. That’s good news!
But as you know, polls are often unreliable, and many have been wrong. It looks good, but this is no time to rest on our laurels. We can’t afford to do that. The election is coming up in a matter of days. I have always said to act like we’re 10 points behind.
If every activist reading this would do something, whether it be phone banking, donations, reminding people they know in the area to vote, or door knocking, ANYTHING would help. This race can be ours. But not without hard work. So, in these final dwindling days, let’s use our activism!
And if YOU are someone who finds themselves restless in the late hours, inhaling the night air, wondering what you can do to make a difference? Whenever that thought comes to you, wherever it arrives, remember there’s a special election to win, and it’s all hands on deck!
