The House majority could depend on the guy in this photo – and many of you have never even heard of him
Quick, try to come up with the name of the person in the photo attached to this article. Many of you have no idea who he is. And yet he may be about to single handedly determine which side holds the House majority.
The person in the photo is Tom Suozzi, the Democratic candidate in the special election to replace George Santos in New York’s 3rd House District. The election is just over a week from now, and it could still go either way. With the current House Republican majority being narrower than ever, and even more House Republicans seemingly leaving office each month, this election could end up deciding who holds the majority by the time we get to the spring and summer.
Since the winner of this special election will have an incumbency advantage when seeking reelection in November, there’s a good chance that this special election will decide who wins this seat in November. So if the House majority comes down to a single seat in November, this special election here in February could pre-determine the majority.

The House majority, before and/or after November, could end up resting entirely on whether Tom Suozzi wins the special election on February 13th.
