The times they are a changing
2024 is here! And with the dawn of a new year comes- campaigns. As snow falls in many states, as people put away their Christmas lights and trees, there are whispers from politicians and those who run their campaigns. Strategies are being discussed. Candidates are readying themselves for a long year. Pundits are making predictions. It is the last one I’d like to have a word about.
A few days ago, I was flipping stations, going from one political show to another, when I had to stop. That’s because a pundit said something so unthinkingly stupid that I knew I had to write about it. Biden and Trump are neck and neck, this pundit proclaimed. This is terrible news for the Democrats!
Why? Here comes possibly – and I mean it — the most idiotic statement of 2024 so far. I know it’s a year out, the pundit said dolefully. But WHAT CAN CHANGE IN A YEAR? NOT MUCH! The laughter bubbled from my lips instantaneously. What could change in a year? Only — everything. Let’s look at 2024 and what is coming down the pike.
Donald Trump’s trials. This pundit is very clueless if they do not think Trump’s numbers will change. We have four trials coming up, and though perhaps not all of them will be before the election, one or more they will surely be.
Then there is Trump’s senility. It is getting worse and worse, people. Think of the following: What if Trump snags the nomination? How in hell does he debate Biden?
Trump’s Truth Social diatribes. Those, too, are getting worse and worse. At this point, I fully expect the traitor to suggest Putin as his running mate.
QUESTIONS. If Trump is the nominee, he will be asked questions about his dictatorial impulses. And he’ll answer honestly, further repelling the American people.
Trump on the ballot. While we do not know how the court will decide, there IS a possibility he won’t be able to run in certain states.
President Biden. Joe Biden has begun his campaign. It will be a great campaign, and his favorability numbers will only grow.
2024 will be known for many things. One of those things is change. The times they are a changin! Trump has now been indicted multiple times. He will soon be a convicted felon. All sorts of changes are coming down the pike, blooming into petals bursting with possibilities — for us.
