Rudy Giuliani cuts and runs – and gives something away about Donald Trump
Rudy Giuliani spent all week insisting he would testify in his civil trial brought by Georgia election workers, but at the last minute he backed out. In a civil trial the defendant is expected to mount a defense, so Rudy’s decision not to testify was a costly one. But we all understand why: he’s so senile, his attorneys concluded that his testimony would likely be even more harmful than his failure to testify, and convinced him to back out.
We’ve seen this movie before. Just last week Donald Trump decided at the last minute not to testify in his own defense in his civil fraud trial. And we all know why: Trump is so senile, his attorneys decided that his testimony would likely be even more harmful than his failure to testify, and convinced him to back out.
Observers on all sides seem to acknowledge that Giuliani simply couldn’t testify because he’s too senile. Yet even though things played out exactly the same with Trump, we had to listen to numerous contrarian hot takes about how Trump’s decision not to testify was part of some strategy and that he’s three steps ahead of us.
It’s just plain weird how, even as everyone in the media and pundit class acknowledges Rudy Giuliani’s senility, so few people (on either side) seem to want to acknowledge Donald Trump’s senility. We’re talking about the exact same circumstances, right down to their attorneys using flimsy excuses to convince them not to testify in cases where they were in dire need of a coherent defense.
Yet no matter how much evidence keeps piling up, pro-Trump people and a lot of anti-Trump people alike just don’t seem to want to acknowledge that Donald Trump is going senile. It just doesn’t seem to be how anyone wants the movie to end. And yet it’s happening right in front of us anyway.
