A regular pageant of stupidity
One of the major reasons Democrats overperformed in 2022 and nearly obliterated the much-hyped “Red Wave” was because we were able to successfully tie a number of Republican candidates to the absolute craziest ones in the so-called “Freedom Caucus.”
Despite having just a five-seat majority, Republicans re-took the House committed to an ultraconservative agenda, with the media largely boosting them with all their promises: cutting Medicare and Social Security, relentless and pointless investigations, with impeachment and a whole lot of government shutdowns thrown in. The good news is that they don’t have the votes to do virtually any of what they’re threatening – but the bad news is that their majority depends on caving to the will of the craziest in the party, even if it brings them down.
This brings us to where we are today, where the GOP-run House is a regular pageant of stupidity. Fortunately, the Biden White House has the perfect response against threats of impeachment – which they attributed to “Marjorie Taylor Greene calling the shots” – highlighting the behavior of the House’s most infamous Republican who has vowed to avenge Trump’s impeachment even if they have yet to find a cause to impeach President Biden.
As long as Republicans have the majority rule, this may as well be MTG’s House, as any Republican speaker will inevitably kowtow to the craziest Republicans in the House or face the same fate McCarthy did. This is the messaging that will get us back the House in 2024 – possibly even with a sizable Democratic majority that could hold through 2026, so long as we start putting in the work now to win.
