Election fraud was never a big topic of conversation until Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. The truth is that when fraud does occur, Republicans are typically involved. It comes as no surprise, then, that the wife of an Iowa Republican will be paying the ultimate price for voter fraud. Kim Phuong Taylor was convicted this week of 52 counts of voter fraud-26 charges of false information in registering and voting, 23 charges of fraudulent voting, and three charges of fraudulent registration.

Taylor defrauded her own people by stealing their ballots and voting in their names. Tam and Thien Doan went to get their absentee ballots, only to find that they had already voted. To make matters worse, these two Democrats found that their votes had been cast for all Republicans, including Donald Trump. We won’t be hearing anything about this from Trump or conservative media. The Doans weren’t the only Vietnamese immigrants targeted by Taylor, who is also Vietnamese. How dare she take advantage of these people? Taylor’s husband Jeremy Taylor unsuccessfully challenged Steve King, and when he lost, his wife was determined to ensure he won reelection as county supervisor and voted for Trump for good measure. She stole literally dozens of voter registrations, absentee ballot request forms, and absentee ballots and voted for who she wanted by pretending to help people cast their votes. Jeremy Taylor is standing by his wife. This must be what Republicans mean when they talk “family first,” not to mention their constant claims of voter fraud.

According to the Washington Post, voter fraud is rare. The only reason it remains in the headlines is because Donald Trump’s claims that President Biden “stole” the election from him. Who knows how many more Kim Taylors are out there who tried to steal it for Trump? Taylor’s husband Jeremy Taylor isn’t much better since he moved outside his district and had to be stripped of his registration. He has not been charged or convicted with his wife; however, the DOJ labeled him an “unindicted co-conspirator.” Taylor plotted to make this happen, taking advantage of Vietnamese immigrants for whom English was not their native language. She convinced Tam and Thien’s mother that completing ballots for her children wasn’t illegal, but she turned around and told her not to tell her children what happened to their ballots. When both went to find out what happened, they were shown their ballots-that did not contain their true signatures-with votes for Donald Trump. This is despicable. Other members of the Vietnamese community came forward with similar stories, and the election commissioner noticed that the signatures all looked similar.

Taylor’s attorney tried blaming the discovery on “bad blood” between Pat Gill, the election commissioner in Iowa, and Jeremy Taylor, which is false. These people of whom Taylor had taken advantage came forward, and Gill called the FBI. Taylor is now awaiting sentencing. She is facing up to five years per count, and her attorney wants “empathy for a family that is suffering.” The woman is a criminal; she deserves no empathy. She deserves the full 260 years provided for each count.
