Donald Trump is ready for his close up
“The prosecution wishes to continue this travesty in darkness.” These words come from Donald Trump’s attorneys. They’re seeking cameras in the courtroom for Donald Trump’s federal election fraud trial. “President Trump calls for sunlight.”
Right. Could you spare me the melodrama? Donald Trump never wants sunlight. He’d like darkness. He’d like everyone to be as utterly miserable as he is. However, the odds of Trump actually GETTING cameras in there are low. Now, lots of people have been clamoring for cameras during the trial, including certain media outlets.
But the bottom line is it’s forbidden in federal trials. That doesn’t mean there are no ways around it. For example, if Jack Smith also wanted that, perhaps that would raise the chances a bit more, but Smith has already given his response to this question, and he wants NO cameras in the courtroom.
And given that cameras usually do not happen in federal cases, it looks like the Trump’s barking up the wrong tree with this one.
Many are saying Trump, deep down, really doesn’t care about whether his every move is recorded but instead is simply arguing for cameras because Jack Smith took the opposite position and he wants to needle Smith. I could agree with that.
Now the filing Trump’s (pathetic) lawyers made is one for the history books. It sounds less like a polite and professional legal request and more like a bunch of lawyers who possibly wrote this with an orange loser breathing down their necks, demanding the filing be as dramatic and insane as humanly possible.
In fact, in the filing, the lawyers argue that ,were there TV cameras, the whole wide world would get to see how “unfairly” Trump is being treated:
“President Trump calls for sunlight!!!!!”
“President Trump exonerates himself of these baseless and politically motivated charges.”
Gosh, but they’re dramatic, aren’t they? I am here to tell you that Trump and his lawyers could make a walk across a street sound like some hysterical outrage.
“Trump tried to cross the street, but those deep state people tried to block his way!!”
And what IS this “Trump exonerates himself” business?” Trump can’t exonerate himself for anything. He’s not a Judge. The only power he will have in that courtroom is whether to sit there like a mature adult or do something stupid like calling the Jury names or something. Trump is more delusional than ever with THIS hapless little filing.
