Donald Trump’s attorney takes the loss in New York fraud trial
How poorly is Donald Trump’s New York civil fraud trial going? 1) He’s already lost the trial by summary judgment before it started. 2) He wasn’t able to stop his own family from testifying. 3) He’s already been gag ordered and fined for his sore loser behavior. And now it’s gotten even worse for him.
Trump is obsessed with an incoherent conspiracy theory about the judge’s clerk, to the point that it’s what prompted the judge to gag him to begin with. On Thursday Trump’s attorney Chris Kise seemingly jumped on the opportunity to impress his senile client by complaining that the clerk was handing the judge notes.
The judge was so offended by this, he informed Kise that if there were any further mention of the clerk at any point, he’d gag Kise as well. It’s pretty bad when even your lawyer is on the wrong end of this kind of thing.
It’s also important to keep in mind that while judges don’t issue verdicts based on who’s been the most annoying during trial, this sort of thing can come back to bite people. For instance, if Trump and his attorney end up needing to ask the judge to give them the benefit of the doubt on something later in the trial, the judge may be less inclined to take them at their word after a disingenuous stunt like this. Trump sure does not know to lose.
