Donald Trump just sabotaged his own trial defense with his idiotic attack on Sidney Powell

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Heading into his criminal trials, Donald Trump is trying to cite attorney-client privilege with, well, just about everyone. To that end, Jack Smith recently made a court filing making clear that if Trump intends to argue at trial that his criminal actions were a result of bad advice from his attorneys, attorney-client privilege would go out the window.

Trump still can’t seem to figure out how to properly respond to Jack Smith’s assertion. But Trump has figured out how to sabotage the “acting on bad advice of counsel” defense in the meantime. When Trump declared on Sunday that Sidney Powell has never been his attorney, Trump forfeited his own existing argument that he has attorney-client privilege with Powell.

In other words, Donald Trump’s big stupid mouth just made it a lot easier for Sidney Powell’s full testimony to be admitted into Trump’s federal criminal trial once she inevitably cuts a cooperation deal with Jack Smith. Trump is ruining his trial defense options in real time.
