Just how ugly has Jim Jordan’s insurrection-style bid for Speaker of the House gotten? After one House Republican voted for Jordan in the first round but against Jordan in the second round, she received what she says are “credible death threats.” It’s gotten just that horrid. And yet it’s not at all surprising, considering Jordan’s history.

Now Jim Jordan is trying to call off his own dogs (or at least trying to give the appearance that he’s calling them off) by tweeting this: “No American should accost another for their beliefs. We condemn all threats against our colleagues and it is imperative that we come together. Stop. It’s abhorrent.”

That’s the correct sentiment. But it’s coming far too late from a guy who’s already tried to incite a violent overthrow of the United States government, and is now trying to rally his same piece of crap followers to use similar tactics against members of his own party.

Suffice it to say that Jim Jordan’s far-too-late tweet isn’t going over well for him. He’s quickly received more than a thousand negative replies within a few minutes, most of them calling him out for his hypocrisy and disingenuousness. One person even quipped that Jordan’s account must have been hacked, given that he’s finally tweeting something sensible, after a week (and a career) of nothing but shameful rhetoric and nonstop lies.

The only good news here is that Jordan appears to still be losing the Speaker battle. That’s not going to change because he posted one “nice” tweet. Even his own side knows who he is. It’s why he’s losing votes.
