What Jim Jordan doesn’t get
Since Steve Scalise dropped out of the Speaker’s race, Jim Jordan is now the nominee. He has even less of a chance of getting the gavel than Scalise. CNBC reported that in the internal vote, he secured only 124 votes, which leaves him with slightly more than half the number he needs. It is highly doubtful that moderate Republicans will vote for Jordan. They would like to see all the fallout from Donald Trump disappear, and Jordan is Trump’s personal protector, as shown by his continued harassment of prosecutors who have charged Trump with crimes. He is still trying to get Fani Willis to give him information to which he is not entitled.
After the way Willis dressed Jordan down the first time, you would think he would back off. Instead, he claimed that he was, indeed, looking at legislation, which is the role of Congress, but we all know Jordan had no such plans. He is merely continuing to run interference for Donald Trump. Willis saw right through him as reflected by her response, which Jordan called “hostile.” “No nonsense” is more like it. Willis is the district attorney of a very large county and has no time for nonsense. Besides, Willis has likely dealt with worse than Jim Jordan, and she’s letting him know that through her second response.
In response to Jordan, Willis wrote: “A charitable explanation of your correspondence is that you are ignorant of the United States and Georgia Constitutions and codes. A more troubling explanation is that you are abusing your authority as Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary to attempt to obstruct and interfere with a Georgia criminal prosecution.” No one is intimidated by Jordan. He’s just another lying, smoke-blowing Republican who acts as if everyone is stupid. He went on Mark Levin’s show on September 10, bragging and playing the “big man on campus,” telling Levin: “We’re trying to get all the answers, but we’re trying to stop this stuff as well.” What “stuff?” Of course, he’s referring to the indictments pending against Trump. What he means is he’s interfering in a criminal prosecution, just as Willis said. She went on to school him again about confidentiality in criminal prosecutions and separation of powers. What will Jordan try next? He needs to be quiet before he finds himself standing next to Trump in court.
According to Newsweek, many experts believe that Jordan should be prosecuted for his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 election. One former prosecutor said that Jordan is “an accessory after the fact” while others believe the Special Counsel would have to show that anything Jordan said was part of a wider conspiracy, sort of like what Fani Wilis is doing. The thing is everyone knows Jordan is dirty. He was dirty long before he ever came to Congress. The way he keeps trying to stick his nose into Trump’s prosecutions speaks volumes. Jordan knows what Trump did. While he was part of it, he may not be worth Jack Smith’s time. Taking down Trump will quiet the rest.
