The adult in the room
When the news broke that Israel had been attacked by Hamas, it was immediately obvious that no matter how badly Hamas may be at fault, this wouldn’t be happening if corrupt warmonger Benjamin Netanyahu weren’t in control of Israel right now. Netanyahu is currently focused entirely on trying to keep himself from being ousted and imprisoned. When it comes to this attack, Netanyahu was asleep at the wheel at best, and perhaps even involved in it; we’ll see.
But after going through this initial sequence of thoughts about the matter, my next thought was “Thank God that Joe Biden is President.” As ugly and tragic and destabilizing as this situation in Israel is, just try to imagine how infinitely more dangerous it would be if Donald Trump were still in control of the United States.
Trump would be trying to figure out how to exploit the situation for his own political gain (not to mention personal financial gain), while showing zero leadership of any kind. However bad this situation is on its face, it would be so much worse with Trump involved.
In contrast, President Biden will expertly handle the Israel crisis in the best manner possible. It’ll still be ugly. It’ll still be dangerous. But the damage will be limited and mitigated by Biden’s foreign policy prowess and his sincere interest in doing the right thing.
This Israel crisis is one of the strongest arguments yet for why we need to be working full-time to get President Biden reelected. It’s literally the difference between a contained crisis and World War III. Biden is the adult in the room. We need to keep him there. So let’s get to work.
