Donald Trump melts down as his “last chance” slips away
There is simply no such thing as Congress “defunding” Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Trump probe. Even if the Republican House does go through with a government shutdown – which probably only has about a 30% chance of happening – and even if DOJ funding was temporarily cut off, it wouldn’t impact Jack Smith’s probe. Various experts have explained that it just doesn’t work that way.
For that matter, even House Republican Byron Donalds admitted in a tweet this week that his party cannot magically cut off the funding for Jack Smith’s probe. Anyone who’s living and breathing in the real world knows by now that this isn’t a real thing. Then there’s Donald Trump, a cognitively crippled man who exists in an insulated fantasyland.
Trump is now ranting and raving on social media about how this is the “last chance to defund these political prosecutions against me and other Patriots.” Well okay then. If Trump thinks that this is his “last chance” to get bailed out of his legal problems, he’s in for a real shock when he finds out that it’s not even a real thing.
Yet here we are, with Donald Trump under the childlike delusion that his friends in the Republican House can click their heels three times and magically make the bad stuff go away. Trump is operating on the level of a four year old at this point. It’ll only get worse.
