No one deserves this more than Trump
Remember Jeff Foxworthy’s tag line “you might be a redneck?” Donald Trump’s criminal woes are similar: when you repeatedly claim your innocence in multiple charges and have a misguided, inept congressman running interference, you might just be a criminal. Donald Trump is a criminal, and no number of denials or interference is going to change that. Trump has been busily making unhinged posts on his failed social media site and making wild claims that Joe Biden is behind his prosecutions. We should all be as powerful as Joe Biden if he can make prosecutions happen in three different places at one time. He can’t, and Donald Trump is a fool of the worst kind.
Trump continues to push Judge Tanya Chutkan to act on her order directing him to stop tainting the jury pool in D.C. with his unhinged posts and statements. One Washington insider, Jonathan Alter, believes he is pushing to the point that Chutkan may well put him under house arrest. While Alter does not believe Judge Chutkan will jail Trump, she can certainly place him on house arrest. Something must be done about him, but it is doubtful house arrest will change anything unless they take away his phones, computers, and anything else he uses to post on his site.
He railed about the indictment filed by DA Fani Willis, calling Atlanta a place “where murders and other violent crime soars daily to new record highs.” Trump constantly lies about things of which he has no knowledge. According to a 2022 survey done by CBS News, the city with the highest murder rate was St. Louis, Missouri. Atlanta came in at number 22. The biggest crime Atlanta has experienced is Donald Trump’s election interference. Yet, he has followers who claim he never lies and who hang on his every word. What planet are they from? The rest of us aren’t crazy; they are. Trump, on the other hand, might want to be thinking about what yet lies ahead for him.
Last week, Special Prosecutor Jack Smith reconvened his DC grand jury. You know what that means: additional charges and/or defendants. Glenn Kirschner, former prosecutor, and frequent critic of Donald Trump, appeared on MSNBC last week, and he expects that reconvening the grand jury means just that. Kirschner believes that some of the unindicted co-conspirators might be charged, while CNN believes that a superseding indictment in D.C. could involve fraud stemming from Trump’s fundraising on his lies about the election that were then used to breach voting machines. If this is how Smith proceeds and he gets a conviction, Trump can kiss all that money goodbye as it will be confiscated by federal authorities.
At this point, it doesn’t matter how either prosecutor goes after Trump as long as either or both are successful. Judge McAfee has already shot down Mark Meadows’s bid to move his case to federal court, and should Trump make a similar filing, his result will likely be the same. This is the time for Trump to shut his big mouth, but he won’t be able to stop himself.
