No, Jim Jordan can’t save Donald Trump with these Fani Willis hearings

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Jim Jordan has announced that he’ll be holding House hearings about Fani Willis. To be clear, this kind of thing can’t possibly help Trump in any way, shape, or form. Jordan knows this too. Jordan just does this stuff so he can fundraise off Trump’s base. Any such hearings will change zero minds and have zero impact.

We’ve all seen this movie before, so we know it’ll go something like this: Jordan will “request” that Fani Willis provide him with information about the case (he won’t dare to try to subpoena her for fear of violating obstruction laws). She’ll laugh at his request. He’ll claim that’s “proof” that she’s hiding something. No one will care either way.

But Jordan will then be able to send out a fundraising email saying “I took on Fani Willis” and Trump’s base will send him money for it. These things are nearly always about money.

By the way, Georgia Republicans are doing the same thing with this imaginary threat to remove Fani Willis. They can’t do it. Wouldn’t hold up if they tried. Wouldn’t help Trump in any way. But they’d be able to fundraise off the imaginary attempt, which is always the point with these kinds of things. It’s about giving off the appearance that you’re doing something, when you know you can’t actually do anything.
