Witness for the prosecution
Mike Pence is a classic passive-aggressive personality. He doesn’t want to come at Trump directly, so he does it in these subtle, indirect ways. It’s actually very amusing. Pence’s latest move is to turn on his “befuddled” face and say he isn’t aware of Donald Trump wanting to declassify the stolen documents.
Way to go, Pence. You’re showing the merest, most tiny hint of a spine. Let’s see if you can keep it up. Pence made this statement to ABC News, where I’m sure he got a bit of satisfaction over dissing the man who would have happily seen him hanged.
But Pence, BEING Pence, had to rush in and ruin everything. He added, at the end of his remarks, this: “But that doesn’t mean it didn’t occur. I just — it’s not something that I ever heard about.”
Pence needs an intervention. He truly does. He needs an intervention to develop his spine, nurture it, and learn how to stand up to Donald Trump without inevitably ruining it with hogwash such as that last comment.
Pence has also said Trump might change his mind and be on that debate stage. I disagree, but you know something? I bet Pence WANTS him on that stage.
One can’t have been through the things that Pence has gone through without feeling any anger. The man put the lives of Pence AND his family in serious jeopardy. That has got to mean something to the former VP.
Pence must get his act together soon and firmly decide on a strategy. Because, as you know, he is shaping up to be one of the best witnesses for the prosecution we’ve ever seen.
