Donald Trump’s numbers of doom
It’s still fairly early in the primaries, so we can’t trust too much polling this early out, but the data that we do have tells a rather bleak future for the GOP in 2024, should they be so foolish as to nominate the former guy for president.
Although there are polls that show Donald Trump within striking distance of the presidency, a number of them fail to report his favorability, which a newly released AP poll shows is hovering around 35%, a number worse than President Biden’s approval ratings, but even more alarming is that a whole 62% of Americans view Donald Trump unfavorably – meaning that he’ll inevitably get a sizable number of underreported people to vote against him if he’s on the ballot in 2024.
The even more alarming statistic is that these results were reported well before Donald Trump’s indictment came on Monday. While over half of the GOP thinks that 2020 was stolen from them – or whatever that means, this insane rhetoric only resonates with one-third of independents, a group that the former guy desperately needs to win over if he wants to have any kind of shot at winning, while Democrats are in all but unanimous agreement over 2020 being a fair election that Trump might have easily won if he took any degree of seriousness in dealing with the pandemic.
It also shows he has plenty of room to fall once Democrats begin actively campaigning against him. This is our fight to win – let’s turn out in record numbers and turn out new voters to win again in 2024.
