If you’ve been on really any social media platform in the last 24 hours, you might notice that the loudest right-wing accounts are a little crazier than usual – if anything, a whole lot more emotional than they typically are with the screams about a witch hunt. It’s easy to just sit back and laugh at their misfortune and theatrics without thinking too much of it.

You might think this is insincere, as many of them actively laughed or cheered when the former guy was president and regularly disregarded the U.S. Constitution, but there’s something a bit more deep seeded than you might think – particularly when it comes to this indictment versus the ones we’ve already seen.

Unlike the indictments in DC or New York, or the upcoming trial in Florida, this one is happening amidst the backdrop of a crucially sought-after swing state, and Donald Trump is getting all of the treatment of an ordinary defendant as he gets fingerprinted and a mugshot.

That means it’s about to get crazier with these people, and while it might fire up Trump’s base, it’s not going to work so great with voters in the middle seeing this wall to wall coverage each day, while GOP party leaders routinely distance themselves from his desperate search there for more votes.

It might be possible for Trump to win there in ‘24, but it will at the very least, be a steeper climb than it was in 2020, particularly as the state’s demographics continue to shift in our favor. If we put in the work in 2024, we can win and win decisively.
