UPDATE, 8/14/23: Mark Meadows has been indicted in Fulton County after all. Original article follows. Amid today’s news that Fulton County DA Fani Willis has Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and Sidney Powell nailed for racketeering, whose name was once again conspicuously missing? Mark Meadows. He’d have been right in the middle of that plot. Yet once again, Meadows is not mentioned. Meadows must have flipped at the state and federal level.

When Jack Smith listed six Trump co-conspirators in the fake elector plot and Meadows wasn’t one of them, that was a huge clue that Meadows had flipped on the federal level. We still don’t have any official confirmation that Meadows has flipped in the Smith probe, but his omission was almost confirmation by default.

As a practical matter, if multiple prosecutors are targeting you for the same crime, it would only make sense to cooperate with all of them or none of them. What are you going to do, admit your guilt to one prosecutor, but plead not guilty for the same crime to the other prosecutor?

So once we saw that Meadows wasn’t among Jack Smith’s criminal targets, it seemed likely we wouldn’t see him among Fani Willis’ targets either. And today’s news seems to confirm that Willis isn’t targeting Meadows.

Remember, just because you flipped it doesn’t necessarily mean you go free. If Meadows has negotiated cooperation deals with both prosecutors, those deals might include immunity, or might involve pleading guilty to lesser charges and a reduced sentence. We’ll see.
