Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign “reset” is a disaster already

When Ron DeSantis won the state of Florida unexpectedly by about half a point back in 2018, he suddenly became a star of political media – on both the left and the right, hailed as the next Trump – a disciplined politician who had the same venom as the former guy but was able to present himself as more electable – and that his rise was pretty much inevitable.

Unfortunately, there was never a whole lot of meat to this beyond what the pundits who claim to know best tell us – and that’s why his campaign has been floundering. Far from being the next strongman, DeSantis is largely just a wannabe strongman – a pathetic buffoon who’s desperately trying to be relevant by doing a Donald Trump impression.

His campaign “reset” has been just as embarrassing as the rest of his campaign, but slightly darker – with his insistence on whitewashing slavery in history textbooks – and now him having full-fledged public meltdowns vowing to slit the throats of federal workers who don’t agree with him. Yes, he actually said that – the latest in a long line of imbecilic comments like encouraging an underaged supporter to vote illegally.

The problem with DeSantis is that his own state is living proof that his policies are a car wreck – and the average person doesn’t see someone with influence or power when he gets on the stage – they see just another insecure man-child who can’t control his own anger issues. It’s why his campaign isn’t likely to respond to any kind of revival – and that’s something we should all be grateful for.
