Sorry Trump, that’s not how any of this works
On Friday, Donald Trump made a somewhat strange claim. He said Jack Smith can’t touch him on anything related to January 6 because he was impeached and “acquitted” during his impeachment. What a strange claim! Does the man truly not know how the Justice system works, or is this yet another game?
Obviously, impeachment has absolutely nothing to do with bringing criminal cases. Trump has oddly made similar comments before, leaving us with the question: Is this creature REALLY that dumb?
Apparently, he is, His fit about this was, of course, on Truth Social, and he really did claim that since he won his impeachments, there isn’t any way he can be indicted for ANYTHING related to January 6.
It is fascinating if Donald Trump truly believes this. And it’s rather scary. I mean, the man WAS President for four awful years. Could it possibly be true that we had a President who thinks impeachment is the same thing as being criminally indicted? It certainly appears so.
But there’s another explanation here, and I’d like to talk about it. It is quite possible that Trump is so scared and panicked that he’s throwing anything out there that he thinks may help him. It’s possible that he is so panicked, he’s simply lost his ability to reason.
And that would mean of course, that his desperation is escalating. It is true that he seems to have gotten worse lately, his personality having withered away even more.
I know not what the truth is where Donald Trump is concerned. It’s always a gamble to try to read the mind of an insane person. But based on his Truth Social postings, it does appear that Trump is even more lost, more gone than we ever expected. And there will be plenty more meltdowns where that came from.
