“Incandescently stupid”
“Incandescently stupid” are the words that former DHS Security Chief Miles Taylor used to describe Donald Trump. Taylor was talking about how he had to “dumb down” memos for Donald Trump, indicating that “dumb” was the only way to talk to Trump about classified information, which makes it even more puzzling that he would take classified documents and hoard them at Mar-a-Lago. Obviously, he didn’t understand what any of them meant, so he didn’t take them for his reading pleasure. That begs the question of exactly why he did take them. Perhaps someone smarter than him was making sense of them for him, though that is difficult to imagine. Trump’s dumbness can be seen in virtually everything he does, including calling and asking Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes.”
MSNBC reported that Fulton County DA Fani Willis is considering charges for indictments, including solicitation to commit election fraud, conspiracy to commit election fraud, solicitation to destroy ballots, and solicitation of a public officer to fail to perform duties. You may recall that Lindsey Graham, in so many words, asked Raffensperger to throw out ballots if they had questionable signatures. That sounds like solicitation to destroy ballots, and both calls from Graham and Trump asked Raffensperger to abject his duties as secretary of state to do their bidding. Hey, maybe Graham’s name will be on an indictment along with Trump. MSNBC opined that solicitation to commit election fraud involved the attempt to replace legitimate electors with 16 fake electors. Andrew Weissman, the former FBI general counsel, and Michael Moore, a former U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, joined Alex Wagner to discuss these issues.
Moore explained that a conspiracy is simply an agreement between two or more people “to do something wrong.” He said that could include setting up the fake electors and/or including people in the call to say they were going to pressure Raffensperger. Moore believes that Willis has evidence of both conspiracy and solicitation that is solid enough to present to the grand jury. Wagner, turning to Weissman, said that Trump also threatened Raffensperger with criminal prosecution on the phone. Weissman pointed out that Raffensperger had committed no crimes whatsoever. Georgia audited the vote three times, and Raffensperger told Trump there was no fraud. He went on to say that even if Raffensperger was wrong, there is no crime in being wrong. Weissman believes this evidence will “go a long way with a jury” because “that is not normal behavior.” Weissman called Trump’s call “a way of extorting an officer not to do his duty.”
Moore further called Trump’s threats to Raffensperger a “recorded confession” and that this evidence is significant. This is typical Trump: a blowhard who threatens people. It is a beautiful type of karma that his very way of life is now being threatened. Despite his dumbness, Trump isn’t a fool. That’s why they tried to have Fani Willis removed. She has myriad experience prosecuting the RICO Act, and that will likely be included in her charges against Donald Trump. Willis will take Trump to the mat, and Jack Smith will finish him off.
