When Rudy Giuliani did a proffer interview with Jack Smith out of nowhere weeks ago, it raised questions about why. What specifically made Giuliani panic and try to sell out others in the hope of getting himself off the hook? Then on Thursday it was reported that Giuliani’s sidekick Bernard Kerik is now also looking to do an interview with Jack Smith. It was enough to make you wonder what spooked everyone.

Now Rolling Stone is reporting that Jack Smith has zeroed in on Donald Trump’s “command center” which met at the Willard Hotel leading up to January 6th and seemingly led the way in trying to overthrow the election. That posse just happened to include the likes of Giuliani and Kerik. Hmm.

The January 6th Committee made great strides elsewhere but famously was unable to crack the Willard Hotel plot, because no one involved was willing to give up the story. Typically, investigators have to get someone involved with a secret plot to talk about what really happened, and then they use that testimony to try to get the others to cave. But when no one is willing to talk, it’s a different story.

Yet now Jack Smith appears to have indeed cracked the Willard Hotel code of silence, to the point that multiple people involved in that “command center” are doing proffer interviews for fear of being indicted. It’s worth keeping in mind that about four weeks ago, Alex Jones’ sidekick Owen Shroyer finally caved and cut a cooperation deal with Jack Smith after a very long holdout. Shroyer was reportedly part of the Willard Hotel group. Perhaps it’s his cooperation deal that’s allowed Smith to crack open the door and put pressure on the other participants to come clean.

In any case, this puts a whole lot of familiar names in Jack Smith’s legal crosshairs. The Willard Hotel “command center” reportedly included Rudy Giuliani, Bernard Kerik, Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Boris Epshteyn, Michael Flynn, and Roger Stone, among others. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re all going to get indicted, but it means none of them are probably sleeping well right now.
