Indicted fake elector throws everyone else under the bus
When Michigan criminally indicted sixteen “fake electors” yesterday, it was for the obvious purpose of bringing them to justice. But it was also presumably done for the strategic purpose of pushing those fake electors into flipping on the bigger fish in the fake elector plot.
Sure enough, one of the newly indicted fake electors in Michigan is already throwing everyone else under the bus by claiming that she was just following instructions:
Facing felonies in the false electors scheme, former MIGOP Co-Chair @MeshawnMaddock suggested today that her role was secondary. Maddock says, “Of course we [the electors] all listened & complied” to “our leadership,” adding that the paperwork was prepared & “put in front of us.” pic.twitter.com/iSFvnt0tLz

Sure, she’s trying to come up with a defense to try to get herself off the legal hook. But when your argument is that you were merely following instructions, by definition you’re incriminating the people above you who gave those instructions. So is she fishing for a cooperation deal by saying this? Stay tuned. Getting indicted tends to motivate people.
