Donald Trump isn’t as smart as he thinks

One of Donald Trump’s favorite activities is complaining via his Truth Social. He has called Jack Smith everything but a child of God. He also published online what he claimed to be President Obama’s address, which resulted in one of his lunatic people approaching the address with a gun, landing his dumb ass in jail. Trump is dangerous, but he also has a game plan.

Trump has recently intensified his attacks against Smith, calling him “deranged,” “psycho,” and said, “he looks like a crackhead,” Washington Post reported. Trump is an idiot, but he knows what he’s doing. He’s hoping for a gag order from Judge Aileen Cannon so that he can claim his right to free speech is being violated and raise more money. Fortunately, no one is falling for his latest schtick.

The Washington Post reported that neither Cannon nor Smith has said a word. Smith has too much class to even acknowledge Trump, let alone engage him, and Cannon is already walking on proverbial eggshells. Trump thinks he’s so smart, but he’s actually clueless. Washington Post spoke with former federal prosecutor Ken White, who said: “Trump is likely trying to provoke a legal battle so he can portray himself as a victim of censorship as well as government abuse.” Trump has realized great success in fundraising from calling himself a victim. When asked about Trump’s childish behavior, his spokesperson Steven Cheung said: “President Trump will absolutely continue to exercise his First Amendment right.” Trump does have rights, but so do the rest of us: the right to not have Trump’s goons come after us when he fires them up. That’s how January 6 happened.

Bruce Rogow represented Roger Stone, who was placed under a gag order, and he revealed something very important: Trump would relish in having yet another grievance to use to his advantage. As Rogow pointed out, a gag order would simply mean more negative publicity, upon which Trump thrives. He also believes that Judge Cannon is not “going to take the bait.” Further, according to Stephen Gillers, professor of legal ethics at NYU, Trump is merely name-calling and not giving away any evidence that has been deemed inadmissible. Gillers said that courts are mainly concerned about factual statements that could influence a jury, and Trump is, so far, staying away from such comments. Of course, we would have to assume Trump has enough sense to even know what is and isn’t admissible in court. He does not. He is merely playing his usual games of trying to turn the public against his perceived enemy. Likely, both Smith and Cannon know what he’s doing and figure it’s best to leave him to it.

Trump is his own worst enemy. The more he talks, the more likely he is to give something away to the prosecution, as he has already done with the tapes. Right now, he’s getting what he wants. Prosecutors have already received threats from his crazy followers. Let him talk; perhaps he will say more that incriminates himself, and they can lock him away for good.
