These numbers are devastating for Donald Trump
Everyone’s talking about how broke Ron DeSantis’ campaign is. But that’s not news. He was never really in the race. The real news is that Donald Trump’s fundraising numbers are also awful, even though he’s the Republican “frontrunner.” No one wants to donate to a guy who’s on his way to prison anyway.
Of course DeSantis’ fundraising numbers are a lot worse than Trump’s. But DeSantis is now polling at about 15% in the primary race and dropping, so you’d expect his fundraising to bottom out. Trump is polling at about 55% in the primary race, yet his fundraising is still weak. It underscores just how soft his numbers are. No one really expects him to remain the Republican frontrunner once he’s been convicted in multiple criminal trials.
The Republican “frontrunner” is bringing in HALF as much money as the Democratic frontrunner. That tells you there’s something very, very wrong with the Republican frontrunner. And it’s not like the missing money is going to other Republican candidates. It’s going nowhere.
Even the people who want to donate money to help the Republicans win the 2024 presidential election are largely withholding their money for now. They don’t see anyone viable to give it to. And that includes Donald “I’m going to prison” Trump.
