Jack Smith is reportedly going after Michael Flynn
Numerous media reports over the past couple weeks have made clear that DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith has been focusing heavily on the attorneys who tried to help Donald Trump overthrow the 2020 election results. This has gone as far as Giuliani doing an eight hour proffer session with the DOJ, in a possible prelude to a cooperating plea deal. Now it turns out the attorneys aren’t the only ones on the hot seat.
Jack Smith is focused on three people – Sidney Powell, former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, and Michael Flynn – who participated in a Trump White House meeting where ideas were pitched for overthrowing the 2020 election. This is according to a new report from CNN today. It points to just how broad Jack Smith’s 2020 election related probe truly is.
It’s becoming clear that Jack Smith isn’t just investigating the January 6th Capitol attack and the “fake elector” scheme. He’s also looking at every Trump-connected attempt at overthrowing the 2020 election. It’s time for people like Sidney Powell and Michael Flynn to start worrying about ending up indicted. It also explains why an opportunist like Giuliani was in there with the DOJ last week, trying to get out ahead of what’s coming.
This also suggests that every other potentially illegal sideshow involving Trump world and the 2020 election is also likely being probed by Jack Smith. Once you take your probe this wide, you tend to take it all the way, to every last nook and cranny. Of course Donald Trump continues to be the obvious primary target. But everyone around him should be sweating right now.
