Palmer Report is under attack

Palmer Report routinely leads the way in cutting through the mainstream media’s ratings driven narratives and getting to the truth of the matter. This has led various major media outlets to retaliate against us over the years, often by falsely labeling us “fake news.” Now it’s happened again.

On Friday, Newsweek published an article which quoted a Palmer Report tweet favorably, but bizarrely labeled us “fake news” in the process. After we inquired with the author of the article, she informed us that the phrase “fake news” was actually inserted by a Newsweek editor without her knowledge. Newsweek has now backed down by removing that phrase from the article. But as of now no apology, retraction, or correction has been issued.

Worse, the precise wording used in the Newsweek article – “liberal fake news website” – makes clear that the Newsweek editor in question got that phrase from Wikipedia. This means that Newsweek editors are now copy-pasting phrases from Wikipedia and inserting them into Newsweek articles. This is apparently what passes for editorial standards these days at major news outlets.

Bizarrely, just one day before Newsweek falsely accused us of being “fake news,” a different Newsweek article quoted Palmer Report extensively – making clear that Newsweek knows we’re not “fake news.” But that’s how major news outlets often tend to treat independent voices like Palmer Report: they’ll crib my work one day, and then lie about me the next.

This isn’t the first time Palmer Report has been under attack like this from the mainstream media. For instance, after Forbes falsely accused Palmer Report of being “fake news” it ended up publicly apologizing for it. Newsweek owes us a public apology as well, and we intend to get it.

Even as the major media outlets continue to look for new ways to smear Palmer Report, we’re more determined than ever to continue leading the way in delivering honest political analysis. The mainstream media’s ongoing dishonest behavior toward us only serves to underscore how important it is that Palmer Report exists as a voice of truth.
