Jack Smith is going for the kill

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

People wonder how you can hate someone you don’t know. Those people must have never been exposed to the charlatan Donald Trump. He is easy to hate, and most have no desire to know him. His behavior has always been ridiculous, but his behavior following his indictment is unacceptable. It is difficult to conceive how one can be so evil, so uncaring, so self-centered. Jack Shafer of Politico magazine is on the right track of how Trump became the monster we know and hate.

Shafer calls Trump a “thrill seeker” who “breaks the law for entertainment.” Shafer says much more, but the one thing that stands out in his piece is: “There’s little doubt about whether Trump knew he was breaking the law.” There is no doubt. The only thing Shafer forgot to mention is that Trump is an asshole. Following his arraignment, Trump flew off to Bedminster to give a lie-filled speech, which is nothing new. He, of course, insulted Jack Smith, who he doesn’t even know and who is a well-respected prosecutor. Trump is respected for nothing. One report wrote that as he was leaving the courtroom, Trump looked back over his shoulder to sneer at Smith. Smith, being the opposite of Trump, simply joined his team and left the room, without so much as a glance back. Surely, Trump knows this isn’t personal for Smith; he is merely doing his job, a job he does quite well. Perhaps Trump is jealous since he really knows how to do nothing, but he might want to start paying attention to his Republican friends who are steadily distancing themselves from him.

Politico reported that several Republican senators have had enough of Trump. Recall that seven of them voted for impeachment during Trump’s second trial, so we already know those seven are not fans. Four Republican senators have already endorsed others running for the Republican nomination. Politico reported Mike Braun will say nothing more than: “I’ve endorsed his policies. As an official endorsement, I have not.” Braun further said that he wants “someone articulate” (which excludes Trump), and right now, the number of Republican senators who want “someone other than Trump” has crept up to equal those who are endorsing him. Todd Young has decided who he wants for the GOP nominee: “Whoever can beat Trump,” and John Thune and Mike Rounds have endorsed Tim Scott while Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven support Governor Doug Burgum. They will royally piss off Trump, but it seems that he is already there.

According to the Hill, John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, told the Washington Post that Trump is “scared shitless.” He went on to say that Trump’s behavior supports his contention. “This is the way he compensates for that. He gives people the appearance he doesn’t care by doing this.” But we know better. We can also tell that he’s scared shitless, and he should be. Trump needs to be held accountable for once in his miserable life, and this is the perfect opportunity. Jack Smith won’t be playing Trump’s games. He’s going for the kill.
