Donald Trump is running scared
George Conway has a way with words when speaking of Donald Trump. In a piece published by Raw Story, Conway minces no words. Conway wrote that Trump is “risking years in prison by hoarding classified documents,” but Conway apparently doesn’t get that Trump thinks he is above the law. In his little mind, he is risking nothing because he’s “the president” (read, “king”) and can do whatever he likes. Most experts think Trump is in for a rude awakening and reality check.
Andrew Weissman, a former FBI general counsel and special counsel prosecutor, believes that an indictment against Trump is coming this week, and he suggested that Trump could be tried in DC or Florida. Even though Trump’s crime is against the government, which is domiciled in DC, the crime occurred at his resort in Florida. Weissman believes the Constitution will ultimately control the venue. It is interesting that Jack Smith’s grand jury is reconvening in Florida, which has been confirmed by NBC News. Now, whether this is a new grand jury is not yet known, but it is very interesting that they’re going to Trump’s turf to finish their work. There must be an indictment coming. Weissman also pointed out that in the New York hush money case, Trump’s lawyers met with Alvin Bragg as his investigation neared its end, and they have done the same thing in this case. How is Trump responding? As he typically does.
Trump has been on an “all caps” rampage on his Truth Social, including threatening Ty Cobb with legal action. He called him a “disgruntled former Lawyer” who “knows nothing about the Boxes Hoax.” Cobb never spoke about the classified documents themselves, but as an experienced lawyer, he knows evidence when he sees it. All this anger is because Cobb dared to give his opinion of the situation as he sees it. Trump, of course, claims that Cobb is simply mad because he didn’t “continue using him (and paying him)….” Please, Trump doesn’t pay anyone. Next, he’ll be going after David Urban, his former campaign adviser, who told Anderson Cooper that Trump is worried. On top of everything else, the DOJ is now scrutinizing an alleged flood that occurred at Mar-a-Lago.
According to Salon, this incident occurred approximately two months after the FBI served its warrant and confiscated hundreds of classified documents. While no equipment was damaged by the water, surveillance video logs were destroyed. How convenient. Of course, no one knows whether this “flood” was accidental or purposeful, but it has been reported that prosecutors find it “suspicious.” There have been numerous reports that the surveillance tapes secured by the DOJ seemed to be missing parts, and this flood likely explains those missing portions. This may well factor into any upcoming obstruction charges, as the DOJ and Jack Smith seem highly interested in this “accident.” George Conway summed things up best: ” … For this man who is basically a nihilistic moron, for him to go to jail potentially for a long time for something so pointless and silly and useless as keeping these documents is actually kind of fitting.” Yes, it is.
