Josh Hawley’s prospects just ran away
If one is seeking knowledge about what it is to be a true man, one probably shouldn’t seek that knowledge through Missouri Senator Josh Hawley. Hawley has the distinction of being one of my least favorite people in the universe. He also does not seem to have impressed The Guardian’s reviewer Lloyd Green who absolutely decimated Hawley’s new book: “Manhood: the masculine Virtues America Needs.”
As if the title wasn’t puke-inducing enough, reading pages and pages of Hawley wax poetic about manliness certainly would be. Green seems to agree, dismissing Hawley’s book with one word: “Whatever.”
Green also remarked on Hawley’s refusal to mention Donald John Trump even as his book preaches “morality.” As Josh isn’t the one people look to teach them about manliness, Trump is definitely not whom people go to to learn about morality.
Calling Hawley a “Neo-confederate at war with modernity,” Lloyd says Hawley desperately avoids any mention of Trump and adds: “For all his smut-bashing, the latest developments affecting Trump have left him profoundly unmoved.”
He also noted that Hawley blames “Epicurean liberals” for the lack of masculinity in America. Green ends with this: “He (Hawley)’s doing fine; he seems to believe, however, that he possesses a God-given right to be heard.”
Personally readers? I’d much rather read the critic than the author. Hawley is like a poster child on what NOT to be and what NOT to look up to.
And is Hawley’s preoccupation with being a ‘real man” not somewhat creepy? Seriously, people. Real men do not walk around writing books saying they’re real men. Real men are out living their lives, not having their picture taken to adorn a book that most of the country will never read.
Real men look at Donald Trump with disgust because they love and celebrate women, and they know Trump does not.
Real men do not raise fists in sympathy for American terrorists who want to bring down our government. So, in summary — I don’t see Josh “run like the wind” Hawley as a real man — but that’s just me.
