Usually when a Republican challenger loses their primary or general election bid, they tend to retire quietly and we rarely hear from them again. Bob Hugin and Blake Masters are two notable examples of this – and it seemed like Herschel Walker, who conceded rather quickly on the night of the Georgia Senate runoff last year, would also be one of them. Now, however, Walker is back in the spotlight – and it’s due to his notably scandalous campaign from last year.

On the campaign trail last year, Walker was a magnet for one embarrassing scandal after another, ones that alienated his own family and blindsided his staffers who were largely kept in the dark. Now, another one has broken and its implications are more serious than anything that hit Walker on the campaign trail.

Walker asked one of his top donors for $500,000 and had them wire it not to his campaign, but to his personal company. The report claims that Walker was well aware of the campaign contribution limits which would make this a serious offense – one that Walker could end up doing prison time for if it’s proven to be fraud.

At best for Walker, this is a pretty serious campaign violation and it couldn’t be coming at a worse time for the GOP, when the Fulton County DA is preparing a sizable case against the former guy. This is likely the last we haven’t heard and things could get a whole lot worse for Herschel Walker.
