It’s almost like Fox News is trying to blow this
On an early morning’s day, as spring tentatively showed itself to be on imminent arrival, a mysterious ad appeared. This ad was a full page one and showed up in The New York Times. How intriguing. What could this new ad be about?
Many wondered. Many eagerly read the ad. It came in strong black print. It dominated the whole page. And it was made up of five words. “Trusted now, more than ever.” How titillating! Who was this trustworthy person or persons who had placed this ad assuring people that THEY were the ones people sought out for trust? It was Fox non-news.
That’s right. In the middle of a nasty battle with Dominion voting systems, the scandal-plagued network apparently went batshit crazy and took out this huge ad. What was even funnier (and creepier) was what was in smaller letters at the bottom of the page. “America is watching.”
Holy smokes! Yes, America is watching, but not for the reasons Fox might think they are. Twitter went absolutely hysterical. They shook with mirth. And they were quick to give opinions on this odd (and really stupid) move:
“People trusted David Koresh too.”
“This MUST be a parody.”
“Fox is busted, not trusted.”
“Disinformation central.”
“Does Fox want to be laughed at?”
“They’re joking, right?”
No, they’re not. Fox is engaged in the battle of their lives, and though they will not lose their core group of followers, any chance they had to make inroads with independents and moderate voters (the types who think) are now firmly gone.
This ad is no great surprise. Fox apparently based this “trusted” theory on a YouGov poll that showed they’re more trusted than other news networks. That’s not saying much. And nobody except crazy people rely on ONE poll. So yes, this was Fox non-news fighting back in the only way they know- with more lies, untruths, and misleading headlines.
