Major blow for Fox News
Last Friday, Fox News took a major court hit, losing its motion for summary judgment without trial to dismiss the Dominion Election Systems defamation lawsuit as a matter of law. This great news was almost lost in the chaotic commotion of the Trump New York indictment circus.
In their court motion for judgment, Fox News tried to hide behind the First Amendment, arguing that they were merely objectively reporting the statements of Trump and other election deniers like Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani. That defense of Fox crumbled under the weight of the deposition statements of Boss Rupert Murdoch and the email messages of the nasty triumvirate of Hannity, Tucker, and Ingraham that they knew undoubtedly that the election was not stolen and Dominion voting machines had no part in any ballot miscounting or fraud.
The motivation of Fox to repeatedly broadcast the huge fake election lie was to keep up its ratings among its MAGA viewing audience, and the hell with the truth or the harm their programming was causing an innocent company like Dominion.
We have heard how the Fox News gang even rubbed salt in the wounds of Dominion, exchanging emails disparaging the Trump election deniers as a bunch of wackos, yet repeating their lies on the air.
The trial court ruled as a matter of law that “the evidence is crystal clear that none of the statements relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true.”
Fox News is now looking down the gun barrel of a jury trial as the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit goes to trial this month. Make some more popcorn for the show.
