Ron DeSantis has a big problem back home
Since Ron DeSantis became Governor, Florida has become increasingly problematic. This is not just because of the new legislation DeSantis has put forth, such as the “Don’t say gay” bill. These problems in the sunshine state also arise because of what DeSantis is NOT doing.
And what he is not doing is protecting and nurturing his state — the state he is supposed to be governor of. Because of the fanatical governor’s focus on banning things and picking fights with Disney, other things that need attention have been left by the wayside; one of them is Miami.
Besides being a gorgeous and vitally alive city, Miami is also a haven for spring breakers. They come out in droves this time of year to enjoy the tropical climate, festive ambiance, and delicious food. But most of all, they come to luxuriate in Miami’s warm and balmy beaches.
Only something is happening within the walls of Miami. And that something is crime. Last weekend two murders occurred in Miami, during spring break. And Miami locals becoming angrier and angrier because nothing is being done to stop the rising violence.
This is not the first time Miami has made news for this type of thing. I wrote about it for Palmer Report around the same time last year. The bottom line is as DeSantis keeps busy catching imaginary ghosts and phantoms, the real criminals are getting away with murder — literally.
What’s amusing is that DeSantis is also getting pushback from Republicans and Maga who say the fact that he can’t keep his own state’s streets safe is a really bad look for a Presidential contender.
Miami Beach now has a curfew to try to keep the streets safe and the crowds at bay. But none of this need has happened at all — was DeSantis plugged into the needs of the good people of Miami.
And he’s been getting a lot of pushback because DeSantis stopped running for president long enough to send sixty state troopers to Miami Beach to assist the local police. I say it’s a bit too little too late.
While I am glad this is happening as Miami authorities need all the help they can get, DeSantis needs to shut his pie-hole about his presidential dreams and give his attention to one of the most gorgeous cities in the world — whose people need help desperately — and because of their governor, until now have not gotten much of it.
