The carnival barkers suddenly can’t get a word in

Notice how the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, George Santos, and Lauren Boebert aren’t getting any traction right now? That’s because real political news is now happening, such as Trump indictments. That leaves very little headline space for the empty words of the carnival barkers.

If you take a look, the usual carnival barkers are still running their mouths and saying intentionally scandalous things, as usual. It’s just that they’re not getting any attention, so you’re not hearing about it. And you’ve sort of forgotten they exist.

As aggravating and outrageous as you find the likes of Greene and Santos, let’s remember that they carry out their deranged antics as part of an agenda for personal gain that they know hurts their own party. Whenever people like Greene and Santos are getting headlines, it actually helps the Democratic Party, not the Republican Party.

So you don’t necessarily want these types gone from the headlines for too long. Of course it’s a moot point right now, because Donald Trump getting criminally indicted (and Republican Party leaders being afraid to denounce him) is an even better set of headlines for the Democratic Party.

But at whatever point we have a slow news week between now and the next election, you can expect the likes of Greene, Boebert, and Santos to start getting headlines again. When there isn’t anything bigger grabbing headlines, the people who run their mouth in controversial fashion for the sole purpose of trying to get headlines will indeed get the headlines. And when that happens, just remember that any time the most broadly hated of Republicans are being pushed to the front like that, it’s always a win for the Democrats.
