Liz Cheney lands a new gig ahead of 2024
There are excited whispers going on on Twitter. These whispers are from political animals, people like you and me, who live, eat and breathe politics. And these whispers are about one person and one question: What will Liz Cheney decide to do?
They are referring, of course, to the 2024 presidential election. There is plenty of time. But so many are wondering — will she do it? Will she run? Nobody yet knows. But many are throwing their lot in with the “yes” camp. So am I.
The reason is that if there is one thing Liz cares about, it is the Republican brand. And right now, the republican brand sucks. Liz has already said she’d do whatever it takes to keep Trump OR ANY election denier from becoming president.
She has aided democrats in the midterms by campaigning for some of them. She has shown that she despises the party of trump. Currently, Cheney has a new gig — as a professor at the University of Virginia center for politics. Congratulations, Liz.
But this gig runs only through the end of the 2023 fall semester. There is an option to renew, but who knows if she will. And Liz is still very involved with the republican party, having recently told off Marjorie Taylor Greene on Twitter. I believe she will run because she is justifiably revolted by what the GOP has become.
Many Republicans are beginning to relax and likely do not see her as a threat anymore. But I say: don’t count out Liz, and don’t mess with her either. We don’t know what she’s going to do, although we’ll find out. Hopefully, she will make the right decision.
