There’s something wrong with Kevin McCarthy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kevin McCarthy is unfit for office, and he goes out of his way to prove it. Of all the bad decisions he could make, giving security footage of the January 6 insurrection to Tucker Carlson of all people is the worst. Carlson is a loud-mouthed troublemaker. He is certainly not a legitimate journalist. You can count on Carlson to hand-pick portions of the footage to continue brainwashing people into thinking there was something “right” about what those thugs did that day. Carlson has a track record of downplaying what happened on January 6, and he is the king of conspiracy theories. Putting security footage in his hands is asking for trouble. Carlson is, of course, claiming that he will show what really happened on January 6 by showing security footage to the fools who watch his show. That showing will do no such thing; Carlson-a known liar-will splice the footage to suit his twisted agenda.

According to Associated Press, Dan Goldman (D-NY) voiced his concerns about security. Should Carlson air footage showing how the rioters breached the Capitol and the safety routes of those inside, the ability to flee will be destroyed. Goldman said: “It is not lost on anyone that the one person that the speaker decides to give hours and hours of sensitive secret surveillance footage is the person who peddled a bogus documentary trying to debunk responsibility for the Jan. 6 riot from Donald Trump onto others.” Indeed, Zeeshan Aleem, an MSNBC opinion writer and editor, wrote about Carlson’s documentary, which he said “peddled false and preposterous claims that Jan. 6 was an inside job by the federal government designed to serve as a pretext for surveillance and repression of the right.” Oh, boy. Carlson is a nut.

McCarthy giving this footage to Carlson underscores the fact that he is unfit for office. He has willfully put our democracy and the safety of law enforcement in peril simply to make some type of partisan point. We do not need people like this sitting in our government. With this footage in hand, Carlson will edit this footage as he sees fit, and that won’t include telling the truth about what happened on January 6. Carlson’s record is clear, and it never includes the truth. Carlson is a not a real journalist; he’s a snake oil salesman who preys on the ignorant. The problem with his ignorant followers is that they do things like vandalize the Capitol, based on the lies of people who live on lies-like Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson. They are cut from the same proverbial cloth.

McCarthy’s goal is to try to paint Donald Trump in a better light, an impossible task. Instead, he shows why he should never have secured the speakership. According to MSNBC, McCarthy plans to hold a new version of the January 6 hearings with the goal of blaming security failures. No, blame Donald Trump, and blame yourself for following in his footsteps. All he has done is add fuel to an untruthful fire that continues to divide our country.
