Nikki Haley’s real problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It would appear that Nikki Haley’s strategy for getting the republican nomination has been revealed. That strategy is pretty simple — boast about how young she is. On Monday, Haley spoke to Iowans and did not appear to say much except to attack our elder Americans and boast about her youth.

Haley answered a question from a curious Iowan who wanted to know why voters should support her. Haley said not a word about policy. Instead, she told this person — and everybody there that “you don’t have to be 80 years old to be in DC.”

These continuing attacks on our elders by Smarmy Nikki are annoying me and should annoy you. They also tell a bigger story which I’ll get to in a moment. First of all, these ageism attacks are a repeated theme in Haley’s newly launched candidacy. She is unrelenting in her jokes, mocking tone, and insults toward anyone older than she is. And it’s not OK — It’s not OK at all.

I believe in the lived experience. The older someone is, the more wisdom they’ve had a chance to accumulate. And if you don’t believe me, have a conversation with someone from “The greatest generation.” These people have seen things that many others haven’t.

Wisdom is developed over time, and these folks have it. And I’d much rather have one of THEM as my leader than a smug and self-righteous tricky Nikki. And now I come to the bigger point in all this. And that is — meanness. When someone applies for the job of president, they’re on a job interview. And when one is in a job interview, one should highlight their skills and experience.

In other words – talk about the job. But Haley isn’t doing that — perhaps because she doesn’t have the skills and experience. All she has is meanness. Think about it. Would you ever go on a job interview and say, “I want this job because I’m younger than the aging CEO?” I guarantee you’d be laughed out of the room if you did. And that’s my more significant point.

Haley isn’t talking about what she’ll do because she doesn’t know. She’s making it up as she goes along. She’s like a bumbling ostrich, with its head in the sand, unable to stand up for the American people or herself by actually highlighting differences.

She might be too scared or not know how to do it. Instead, she chooses to attack the best of America, the golden generation, the wisest generation – all to see her simpering little name out there. It’s just sad, and so is Haley’s already botched candidacy.
