Chris Christie crashes and burns

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This article is about one possible republican candidate for President whose candidacy is over before it officially begins. Who do I speak of? It’s nobody’s favorite former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Christie’s candidacy — not that it’s been announced yet, but there WILL be one — is drowning — metaphorically speaking.

It’s already water under the bridge – way, way under with no life preserver in sight. There are many reasons for this drowning. Bridgegate is undoubtedly one of them. The racist red meat he just threw GOP voters is another.

Appearing on ABC this weekend (WHY, ABC?) Christie issued a dire warning for voters. He said a vote for Joe Biden is REALLY a vote for VP Harris. Cringe. The panel of ABC contributors were complimentary of Biden’s state of the union speech, and all agreed he is running again.

But Christie, a dour and gloomy presence, oceans away from the truth, declared this whole election is about Kamala Harris. “If you’re voting for president Biden, you may be voting for Kamala Harris too, and how do you feel about that” Christie sniveled.

This was a bridge too far. Everyone seems to agree that it was.
The panel attempted to defend Harris, but Christie, puffing out his cheeks and not at all in line with reality, used Biden’s age again him.

Christie’s on a rickety bridge to nowhere. Many republicans planning to run only want book deals and know they won’t win. I think Christie knows this too on some level, but he is so cocky, so up his own ass, that he might believe he has a shot.

Chris Christie has no chance – none. He has burned all his bridges. Nobody with any sense thinks he was ignorant of what happened during bridgegate, and nobody takes him seriously anymore. And yet he will likely be a candidate. If there is any good that comes out of this man’s candidacy, it’s that he might destroy one of the other GOP nominees.

His take-down of Marco Rubio was probably the only useful thing he’s done politically in years. Christie embarrassed himself this weekend even more than usual. And it’s bridge over for his candidacy.
