Good news for the Democrats in 2024

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The editor-in-chief of the conservative National Review had some interesting things to say recently. Rich Lowry is his name. And he is predicting that Democrats will win in 2024 – because of the GOP being so clueless. Lowry wrote that republicans still don’t have a clue about what the American people want or need. And he said the craziness of folks like Marjorie Taylor Greene would be the GOP’s downfall.

Lowry said he is bewildered by why the wackadoodle (My word) folks in the party like Greene are becoming “the face of the party.” And he said not only is the GOP turning off swing voters, but they’re currently losing to president Biden.

And then Lowry called what the GOP is doing “some sort of record for utterly avoidable, self-imposed political futility.” The GOP is the face of futility. I couldn’t have said it better.

Lowry also said this: “If the voters believe the choice is between a rickety Joe Biden and the party of a yowling Marjorie Taylor Greene, they will pick Biden every time.”

Indeed. I agree with these words. The GOP is doomed if they continue in this way. Their political exile will last years if they do not get themselves together. And getting themselves together means a recognition of what aspects of the GOP need to go. They have to gain the ability to see their exile is self-imposed.

To come out of that political exile, they need ideas — solutions that will help and not hurt the American people.
I think it is far too late for them to change. I do think they had many chances. But the odds are firmly stacked against them.

And there is one huge reason why this is so: Kevin McCarthy. In an article for Palmer Report called “No way out,”, I wrote that Kevin McCarthy would never be able to satisfy the monsters beneath his bed who haunt his every move.

He made a Dorian Gray bargain with them. The GOP can’t change if the “LEADER” of the party cares more about his own self than the long-term aims of the party. And yet it is not just Kevin. This we see now is the “me party.”

Everybody in it is out for themselves. They have lost the ability to care about anything, even winning elections.

They say they want to win, but actions sure speak louder than words, and there have been no actions. Until there is, the GOP will remain a failed experiment, a group of miserable “me” people in exile because of their own selfish decisions.
