Republicans are already setting themselves up for disaster in 2024

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $785 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Anchors away! The Republican ship of fools is preparing to sail! And mark my words — they definitely will not have fair winds and following seas! This trip will be a long one, stretching into 2024. The Republican presidential primary race is about to begin!

And what could be a bigger ship of fools than this? Republican ninnies are getting ready! So batten down the hatches! It’s almost time. Nikki Haley is preparing a run. Or IS she?

She SAYS she is, but as we all know, Nikki changes her mind on a regular basis. She does not know the ropes when it comes to flip-flopping, so yes, TODAY, it appears she is going to run. Will she say she’s for Trump? Against Trump? For AND against Trump? Who knows with Haley?

Mike Pence! Reports are Pence is gearing up. I look forward to hearing a speech from him, perhaps, as he sternly calls for all abortions to be banned nationwide. That’ll go over well. Perhaps — only PERHAPS, mind you — Pence might make it to two percent. I doubt it. I don’t THINK he will. But two percent would be good for him.

DeSantis is reportedly tearing himself away from banning everything in sight long enough to mull over a run. I hope he does run. Because when the nation meets Goofball Desantis, they will see a loose cannon, a squeaky-voiced maniac, know-nothing, and he might even be one of the first to drop out!

Ahoy Mateys! It’s South Carolina Tim Scott! He is reportedly planning a “faith in America” tour. Yes, I know. What a terrible name. Republicans do not have faith in America. But Scott is likely laying the groundwork! The question is — does anybody care?

And let us not forget New Jersey’s former governor and Bridgegate connoisseur Chris Christie! Christie is salivating as he loudly pretends to have a backbone and the ability to stand up to Donald trump. Of course, we know his potential campaign is going nowhere. I imagine there will be others. Some will run, some will look at the chances and become seasick — and perhaps drop out before they even get in.

Whatever happens, it will be a fool’s game for most. But anchors away, readers! This ship of disastrous fools is getting ready to dock with earnest and fake speeches, carefully staged smiles and a whole lot of nothing. Let’s enjoy the show.
