What a day!
Everyone has the occasional day where they’re too sick to get out of bed, and yesterday just happened to be one of those days for me. Thankfully, I’m mostly over it now. But what a day to be stuck in bed and not be able to write about the things I kept seeing happen!
First a trial jury convicted the Trump Organization of multiple felonies in charges brought by the Manhattan District Attorney. This opens the door for the DA to bring charges against Donald Trump personally, and given that the DA just hired a former DOJ prosecutor, it appears that’s what is now going to happen. The Manhattan DA should have indicted Trump eight month ago, but better late than never.
Then Senator Raphael Warnock won reelection in the Georgia Senate runoff last night. Yes, it was a narrow victory, but so what? We won. If anything it’s a reminder that donating and volunteering does make a difference. Our side (including many of you reading this) kept putting in the work for Warnock, while the other side seemed to give up on Walker, and sure enough Warnock won. Let’s keep that in mind for next time. Swing races are always going to be fairly close, regardless of candidate quality. It’s the side that puts in the work that wins.
I’m still playing catchup from yesterday, but something tells me that we just might continue to see more good news happen today. Trump’s company has been convicted. Trump’s handpicked Senate candidate lost. And the Democrats just expanded their Senate majority to 51 seats. It’s a good day for a good day.
