Another major victory for Democrats in Georgia
When Georgia Republican officials tried to eliminate Saturday early voting in the Senate runoff race, it was a clear attempt at using voter suppression to help their party’s unpopular candidate Herschel Walker. But Georgia courts quickly shot that policy down, and yesterday the Georgia Court of Appeals refused to overturn it.
Today the Democratic Party (and by extension democracy itself) won yet another legal battle when the Georgia Supreme Court also refused to overturn the lower court ruling. This means Republicans are essentially out of options, and Saturday early voting will happen.
This ensures that Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, who is believed to have a small lead in the runoff race, will have a fair shot at winning it. That said, this will still be a very close race – too close for comfort with no room for error – so it’s more important than ever that you volunteer or donate to Warnock here.
