Donald Trump’s “2024 campaign” narrative is already falling apart

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In spite of having filed paperwork and made a media announcement, there are still no signs that Donald Trump actually intends to run for President in 2024. He hasn’t bothered to hire a campaign manager. Half his family skipped the announcement. No followup events. He still hasn’t bothered to return to Twitter, days after having been invited back. He’s still just pretending he’s going to run in 2024.

The media has blown this story so badly, and so intentionally. Trump is not “running for President in 2024” any more than I would be “running for President in 2024” if I filed papers and made an announcement to the media. As a reminder, the current year is 2022. November of 2024 is nearly three Christmases away.

The idea that anyone could announce in 2022 that they’re running for President in 2024, and have the media turn around and report it as if that person is actually running for President in 2024, is absurd. The media just has no business framing things in that way. Given how little effort Trump has made to even sell the notion that he’s supposedly running, it’s even more embarrassing. And given that Trump is so obviously only pretending to run for President as a way of distracting from impending federal criminal charges, the media’s willful misreporting of this story is beyond the pale.

It’s taken all of six days for the narrative about Donald Trump’s supposed “2024 presidential campaign” to start falling apart. Yet the media is still largely pretending to be confused about why Trump isn’t hiring a campaign manager, or why prominent members of his family aren’t bothering to participate in the charade. Gee whiz, if only there were an explanation for why it’s starting to look like – shocker – Trump isn’t actually running for anything.
