Donald Trump’s last stand falls flat

In a last attempt to put Republicans over the top, the former guy came to the swing state of Pennsylvania at a joint rally on Saturday for the party’s nominee for governor and senate, Mastriano and Oz, respectively. The problem is that swing states like Pennsylvania are probably better off without Donald Trump’s presence, since he usually energizes the people who are likely to vote against him with these kinds of events.

Barely mentioning either candidate, he instead went off on a tirade, claiming that he won the state in 2020. This is all pretty poisonous enough for a closing statement when it comes to winning over the swing voters outside of Trump’s base – but it was actually Oz himself that decided to screw up royally when it was his turn to speak.

As he tried to gin up the turnout for Election Day, he told the crowd to each get 10 people to vote “after the Steelers game tomorrow.” The problem is, that despite the GOP ridiculing Oz’s opponent for misspeaking, the Steelers don’t play this week. In Western Pennsylvania, even the non-fans know when the Steelers play – and they refer to the games as “Steeler games” – as if Oz couldn’t make himself look even more out of touch.

has never really done much to reduce his unfavorables – and at a rally that showed the worst of what Republicans have to offer, he made it clear he doesn’t care about Pennsylvania and can’t be bothered. This is why we need to run up the score as much as we can and get Lt. Gov. John Fetterman elected to the Senate on Nov 8.
