A Trump indictment is seemingly inevitable, but it becomes even more interesting when Republicans believe it is coming. According to The Hill, Republicans are predicting that Trump will be indicted shortly after the midterm elections because they believe it will be harder to indict Trump once he announces his 2024 run for the presidency. Please. Let Trump run; he’ll never get the nomination. There may still be some nutcases out there who vote for Trump, but that number has dramatically decreased. The GOP may revere Trump but independents don’t, and they will need that vote to get him back in office. The GOP is as bad as the media and their election predictions. They want to get everyone all riled up when none of them can tell the future. To make matters worse, we have to listen to threats from convicted criminal Steve Bannon that the DOJ will be “defunded” and Merrick Garland will be impeached. Good luck with that, Bannon.

The thing is, no one knows what the DOJ has or where it is in the investigation process, including Bannon and members of the GOP. The are all merely speculating. Andrew Weissman, former counsel for the FBI and Robert Mueller, believes there is much more than meets the public eye. Weissman points to those the DOJ sought to compel to testify, including Kash Patel and Walt Nauta, Trump’s valet. In Weissman’s thinking, the DOJ wants to offer immunity to these actors, both of whom are close to Trump. Patel did appear before the Grand Jury, but we, of course, have no idea whether he testified, pled the fifth, or what. Grand juries are typically held in secret, so none of the members will be talking, but it is somewhat interesting that Patel has recently grown silent. As ABC News reported, silence is not something typical to Patel. He is constantly spouting off in defense of Trump. We will see if that continues. In in interim, members of the GOP continue to talk about that of which they actually have no knowledge.

One of the things the GOP gets wrong is their belief that President Biden is behind the investigation of Trump. If they haven’t noticed, Biden is busy trying to keep the country afloat in very troubling times. He could care less about Donald Trump. Unlike Donald Trump’s administration, Biden keeps the other branches separate from his office, and they are therefore allowed to pursue whatever issues they like, without Biden’s approval. Trump so twisted things when he was in office that people seem to forget how the branches of government work. They also mistakenly believe an indictment against Trump will galvanize his supporters. All of that is merely thoughts and words.

In the end, everyone knows that Trump broke the law when he took classified documents to his private residence. There is no question about that. He can be charged with everything from espionage to obstruction, and if he is charged with enough, he will be facing jail time, not a return to the White House.
