Back when lip syncing hip hop group Milli Vanilli won the Grammy award for Best New Artist, one of its members had a look on his face that suggested it was the worst moment of his life. Years later he said that in that moment, he instantly new the increased attention and scrutiny that came with the award would end up exposing the group as a fraud. I’ve only ever seen that look on the face of a winner one other time, and it was Donald Trump on election night.

Most of us will never forget watching the latter stages of the election results that night, as the all but impossible results came in from key swing states, and it became clear that one way or the other, the election had been rigged. Even as mainstream Americans watched in horror that night at the illegitimate election of a demented racist traitor, we weren’t the only ones who looked like our lives were flashing before us. Here’s how Donald Trump’s campaign room looked as he was being declared the winner:

You see what’s wrong in the above picture, right? Donald Trump’s various staffers and family members looked thrilled to find out they were on their way to the White House. Trump himself, however, looked like his worst nightmare was playing out. It wasn’t just that he didn’t really want the job. It’s that he knew becoming President of the United States would shine a light on all of his crimes and scandals.

The look on Donald Trump’s face that night reveals that he instantly knew everything was going to come out. His collusion with Russia would be exposed. His decades of financial crimes and corporate fraud would surface and come back to haunt him. Trump had his Milli Vanilli moment that night, because he knew the gig was up, and it was only a matter of time before his entire world came crashing down on his head.
