Just Cause can be a dangerous thing. It is used as reasoning — an excuse, if you will — by some people to justify bad behavior. “I had just cause to do what I did.” As if. As if that wipes away the bad behavior. I bring this up because of the “just cause” used by Republicans to justify — well — every horrible thing they do.

They do not stop with the Just Cause. I believe Republicans are addicted to Just Cause. There is just one problem with all of this. The causation Republicans are using is starting to change daily, and republicans are sounding more and more unhinged. Just Cause is ruining them.

Sometimes Just Cause can reveal. That is precisely what’s happening right this very second with Republicans. Take their defenses of Herschel Walker. Some of these “Just Causes” are so ridiculous you’d have to see them even to believe they’re real. Allow me to cite examples:

“People change!!”

This causation’s all over the place. One genius actually brought up Joe Biden.

“Biden used to disapprove of abortion! Now he doesn’t.”

Good lord, stop embarrassing yourselves, Republicans. Please.

“Warnock isn’t some angel!”

OK. The problem with this one is that we are not talking about Warnock. We are talking about Walker.

“This is a private family issue!!”

I cannot help wondering if they would say that were it Hunter Biden, we were talking about. What do you think?

“He cares about Georgia!!”

I can’t bring myself to answer this one.

“People call me a racist and voting for him will show I’m not.”

No, it won’t. All it will do is show you do not care about the morality of the people representing you in the Senate.

“All the flak he’s getting should motivate you to vote for him.”

Well– this is actually honest. The person is sort of admitting they want to vote for Walker because the Democrats don’t like him. This is stupid causation, but at least this genius is honest about the whys.

The good news is that for every Maga who vows to vote for Walker, there are 20 or so people who say they will never vote for him. It’ll still be close, though, even with all this. Let’s make sure we elect Senator Warnock.
